Question:

Academy of Chinese Medicine?

I'm a high school junior from California, and I've been planning to major in business in college. However, recently, I've developed a very strong interest in studying Chinese medicine. Where are some academies I can study Chinese medicine in? I only know of one, which is the University of Tianjin, China. And is it possible to study business and Chinese medicine at the same time? And will taking AP Biology and passing the AP exam help me in any way? What colleges would you recommend?

If you can, please help me list some names of schools or academies of Chinese medicine. I know enough of the Chinese language to pass the AP Chinese Language and Culture exam, so whether its in California or in China, please list what you know! I'm a very clueless person, so any additional information or advice is greatly appreciated!

  1. try to go to UC Berkeley, they have tons of major, and a overwhelmingly amount of asian students. i think it was 1/3 of student body are asians. So i'm sure they have eastern medicine.

they are also partnered up with some of the finest college in china includes TsingHua University. where maybe you can spend a year there studying chinese medicine.

  2. I think its great your intersting in Chinese medicine. Healing is something we all need, not just bandaid symptoms. Your biology knowledge wont help too much in chinese medicine. For example,if someone had lung congestion, the cause and solution may be located no where near the lungs!

Thats the beauty of living in the USA, we are diverse and have much to offer. There are numerous things you can do to become certified in  the numerous aspects of chinese medicine. Do you want to become certified as an acupuncturist,herbalist,cuping,moxa-bust... kung therapy. There are many things to study. If you want to be knowledgable in all areasthis is similar to a PHD but for chinese medicine.which may take a few years of study.

My friend Chuck is a board certified acupuncturist and may be able to give me some refrences on some schools. Hes a great guy and would be able to help. Until then, do your research.

I researched a little bit and found this school in Dallas. It may give you an idea.   http://www.aoma.edu/?gclid=CJTn0Le67JICF...
