Academy training takes pivotal form of darts
If anyone has been thinking about the flawless darts skill of English players, a good answer is the Bristol Darts Academy.
The role of the academy has become pivotal when it comes to training of the younger generation in darts.
A prominent example of this is Steve Brown. Brown, who himself has been involved in darts professionally, trains youngsters in sharpening their darts skills.
This can be manifested from the fact that Steve Brown's Darts Academy students, who are just 13 years old, competed in their first professional darts event on the Brunel League circuit.
Not only did they participate, they were also able to reach the top level of the division.
However, 31-year-old Brown wants to restrict the influence of darts for amusement purposes when it comes to children.
He is particularly cautious about the fact that a child’s upbringing must not get affected because of the game.
Brown does realise the significance of this matter, since he himself is a parent and a foster parent as well.
He stated, "I was cautious about putting them into a league like that, because I want the kids to remain kids. But the venues they are playing at are making them feel welcome and I am really grateful for that".
"If it started getting too much for them, I would pull the plug on it.But they have made a little name for themselves and I think the adults they play against know they are in for a tough game and respect them," he continued.
With his current World Ranking of 26, Brown is confident about the increasing popularity of darts in times to come.
Keeping up with the changing perceptions about darts, he will soon be launching the fourth and fifth branches of his academy.
It is interesting to mention here that he formed his academy in a single room of his late father in 2010.
Within no time, the idea gained pace and all his doubts regarding the success or failure of the venture were eliminated.
Also, the system that has been designed by the academy is similar to that adhered by a martial arts academy.
A darts student when admitted goes through all the stages similar to a martial arts player until he reaches the black level.
With the help of this system, he intends to add greater organisation to the purpose he wants to achieve.
