Accenture Match Play Championship Round 4 draw announced
The draw for the quarterfinals of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship at the Carlton Ritz Golf Club at Dove Mountain in Arizona has been announced.
According to the announcement, world number 47 Ryan Moore will face ninth seed Luke Donald on Saturday whereas world number 13 Matt Kuchar will battle 43rd seed YE Yang. Martin Kaymer who is the highest-ranked player left in the field will clash with Miguel
Angel Jimenez, the 22nd ranked player in the world. The last duo to tee off will include Bubba Watson and JB Holmes, who are 19th and 64th respectively.
The pairings were announced on Saturday by the Professional Golf Association (PGA) on their official website.
Donald who has not won a title in a year will secure the round against Moore, whose highest averages have been 5 and 4.
Kaymer and Jimenez fought the Americans side by side in the Ryder Cup 2010. Both share the highest margin in three-day session, Kaymer carded 7 & 6 in the first round against Noh Seung-yul whereas Jimenez posted the same against Ben Crane.
On the other hand, Kuchar will swing against Yang, who defeated Tiger Woods in the 2009 PGA Championship. The Korean is catching up on pace and his best score was retrieved in the first round in which he carded 4 & 3 against Stewart Cink. Kuchar’s best score,
on the other hand, was recorded against B Van Pelt.
Watson, whose selection in the Ryder Cup 2010 became a target of criticism, will collide with Holmes whose best score was seen in the first round. Watson has been gaining on margin and his last score was recorded at 6 & 4. Meanwhile, Holmes has been one-up
in the last two rounds and expected to go down in the next round. Both the golfers are categorised in the list of biggest hitters, which signifies that they will be using their muscles against the wind on Saturday.
Holmes is excited to be part of the semi-final round. He spoke to the press and said, “It should be fun. Me and Bubba move it out there pretty good.”
On the other hand, Watson is eyeing another victory, courtesy to his form and said, “I’ve won every time, so it works out.”
