Acceptable and comfortable attire for an evening wedding on a yacht in SF bay?

I'm a normal sized (14) grown up (over 30) woman. I would like to be comfortable and would like to look appropriate. It's probably going to be cold and windy on the deck where the ceremony and reception are going to be held and don't want to spend the entire time holding down a skirt and wrap while freezing my butt off. Would an outfit with pants be too casual?

  1. Capris... they can be fancy but casual. dress it up with a pretty blouse.

  2. You could get a lovely palazzo pant suit to dress it up a bit. Or a regular pantsuit would work too. Something with a sleeveless top and a blazer or cardigan would give you the option of covering up if it gets too chilly and the freedom of arm movement without being stuffy. There are some gorgeous suits in Coldwater Creek (www.coldwatercreek.com) or check out Macy's, Lord & Taylor or another department store. Pants are defintielty a DO in this situation!

Good luck and have fun ( =

  3. Yeah, SF can be really windy.  I'd suggest wearing nice slacks, (yes, pants are okay as long as they aren't jeans or something casual) something light colored or black, but probably not Khakis.   I think you'd be too cold in a skirt and yeah, it'd be a hassle to keep down from the wind.  And just wear a nice blouse and make sure you don't forget a jacket. :) Have fun!
