Question:

Acceptable kitchen appliance materials?

If you were to make a new blender/pepper-grinder/kitchen appliance what would be acceptable materials?

Or, where would I find this information?

I have tried searching www.fda.gov to no avail, yahoo and google don't give me anything specific.

Thanks!

  1. If you look at the current market place and what they sell it should give you a clue.

First the material must be durable.

Second it must clean well and keep no residue of what was made in it after washing.

Third it should be durable to the point that it will last under reasonable wear and tear.

The common materials used in this day and age are as follows:

    Plastic

    Stainless steel

    Glass

I suppose you could reinvent the wheel and try some new ideas but why????

  2. You probably want to do your research at http://nsf.org/ not the FDA.  NSF is the non-profit organization that certifies food handling products.
