hi i'm 18 years old and won't be 19 til summer 2009. i live in london and am desperate to do an access course this september as i don't want to go to uni when i'm 20 years old. but the places i've tried said i can't do an access course unless i'm 19 or over, which would mean i'd start the course september 2009. Are there places that allow 18 year olds to take access courses or is it a standard rule that you have to be 18. thanks

  1. No, I think they more or less expect if you're under nineteen then you should have done your A-levels or some other qualification to get into uni.

If you haven't, you'll either have to go back and do them, or wait and do an access course next year.

20 is not old to get into uni. In fact you're better off because you're a few years older.

A lot of people decide after a break from school that they'd like to go to uni so you won't be the only one who isn't eighteen on your degree course.
