I have just put in a dvd burner into my computer. It's a compaq presario SR2011WM and I'm running XP SP2. The dvd burner brand of the dvd burner is LiteOn. I set my old cd/dvd combo drive to slave and my new dvd burner to master... I'm not sure but I think that my old drive was set to "cable something"... should I set my new drive to that as well?

Everytime I try to run a cd/dvd in either of my drives I get the error message. Could you please tell me what's causing this and how to fix it?

  1. Yes sounds like a jumper issue. If you set them both to cable select you should be ok you need to set one to master and one to slave if that doesn't work. Also make sure you have the newest firmware for both your drives you can get it from the manufacturer website
