Hi,

I'm running a two router network and it's all working swimmingly. The only problem I'm having, is connecting to the web/admin interface on the 2nd router, remotely (locally it works fine).

Router 1 (zyxel wireless modem-router) is connected to the WAN port of Router 2 (pheenet wireless hotspot router).

Router 1:

external ip> 87.164.x.x

internal ip> 192.168.0.1

Router 2 (WAN port):

external ip> 192.168.0.220

internal ip> 192.168.2.254

I can connect to the web interface of router 1 remotely, but how can I get to the interface of router 2? I've tried forwarding ports but to no avail.

Thanks.

  1. I believe that you will need to tell the primary router that the secondary router ip is a virtual server and then open a port to access it (assign a static ip to the secondary from the primary).  Typically you can only have one server per network that can listen in on the typical 8080 port.  You will then need to see if your secondary router will allow for a change in the remote admin port number.  My guess is that it doesnt.

  2. I think you can use static NAT, by assigning fixed socket ( L3 protocol, port , IP : 87.164.x.x ) to the IP 192.168.0.220

  3. The guy above seems to be the MAN. Setting up a rule on the primary router about the other router will eanble u to connect remotely.

  4. does the pheenet router has a remote management feature? you may try enabling it, or try changing the port to access your 2nd router remotely (most of the time it's 8080). or it does not work try using dmz.

oh! i forgot! try pinging the public ip address of your 2nd router. you might need to check on that because it changes after some time, unless you have a static ip address from your internet provider
