Question:

Accident forgiveness?

I have had my license for about 1 1/2 months. I literally got into an accident about 3 hours ago. It was technically my fault. No one was hurt or anything but cars were pretty banged up. We have statefarm insurance and part of our policy is accident forgiveness. Will that apply to me or since I am a new driver or will rates still go up?

  1. Each insurance policy is different & each insurance company has many different policies.  You need to learn yours.  It's a contract and when you or your parents take out the policy you really should know what it allows & what it doesn't.

  2. no your insurance will go up lifes a ***** uh

  3. Hmmm, I have had State Farm for years and never heard of this. I thought it was Allstate. The policy should state who is covered under this. Not sure if it would be you since you are on a rider policy. Normally, you need to be accident free for a certain amount of time. I do love State Farm though. They don't jack up their rates for minor accidents.

  4. You'll have to pull out your policy and read it -- probably a clause in there stating that accident forgiveness only occurs after being insured for a set number of months...

  5. hhmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

if it does work out in your favor (to where you are forgiven even though you are a new driver--probably young also)  I want to change insurnce companies!!!!!!!!!!!!  if u can, PLZ let me know the outcome.  TY

  6. If it states in your policy that you have accident forgivness, then your accident will be forgave.

There might be a clause in the policy that says something about new drivers.

The best thing to do is either get the policy out and read it, or call your insurance company and ask.  That's what they are there for.
