Question:

Accidentally rinsed my retainer in hot water?

After i took my retainers out of the denture cleaner, i rinsed them throughly but once i placed them in my mouth, i noticed that they still tasted a bit like the cleanser. So i took my bottom piece out and forgot to take the top piece out and i rinsed my mouth with hot water. Some of the hot water also got on my bottom piece. I am afraid that my retainers might have melted, but they still seem fit well. However, i am still a bit unsure if it got melted...

  1. ......if the water melted it....it would of burned like helll! and at least be boiling hot!!! lol :P

  2. The water would have to be scalding hot to melt your retainer. If it still feels like it fits normally, you don't need to worry. If it feels weird in your mouth, or if any of your teeth start to hurt, then take it in and have it checked out.

  3. If the water wasn't very very hot and you can't feel a change, chances are it didnt melt.

  4. Don't worry about it dear you had not hurt them it seems your retainers are fine if they fits properly. however you can mention this to your dentist when you go in for a follow-up visit. he can check them and approve it. Be careful next time. that's only thing you can do. Keep smiling
