I put a noodle box in the microwave to heat up, but i forgot about the thin metal handle on the box.

I was on the computer and left it to heat up, and when the beep sounded and I opened the microwave door the side of the box was on fire!

I blew it out and put some water on it to stop the smoke...and I still ate the noodles...do you think that's ok?

And do you think my microwave is still safe to use?

  1. Yes it will be okay. They tell u not to put metal in a microwave as it CAN cause a fire, but have you ever watched MythBusters ? Well they tried all kinds of different metals and heaps of it and not one microwave exploded or even caught fire. I am betting yours caught fire because of the cardboard only. Still I'd prefer to be safe than sorry Mythbusters or not !!!!!!

  2. Is there any observable damage?

If not then its probably alright.

Try cutting a grape almost in half and put the halves, still attached by the skins, on a plate.

    Nuke for 30 seconds.

If there are any special effects your nuke box is fine.

  3. Your microwave is fine, and it's likely that your food was okay too.  Just be wary of anything metallic in the future.

  4. Thats the reason that you don't put metal in the micorwave, because it lights on fire. Your microwave is still safe to use, the noodles were safe to eat. Just don't do that again, next time put your noodles in a ceramic bowl or anything non-metal.
