I accidently slept in my contacts last night, I know its bad and I don't do it on purpose in about 5 years of wearing contacts it has happend maybe 5 times. I usually just leave them in when it happens and it doesn't bother me at all. This morning I took them out for a little while and when I put the right one in it really burned so I put some drops in it(just contact drops) but it still was a little red and hurt so I took that contact out and have just been wearing one all day(very annoying). I put optivar drops in it that my eye doctor had given me and its not as red anymore but still is a bit uncomfortable. Does anyone have any advice on what to do? I work at an overnight camp and Im only home through sunday morning so i can't go to the doctor. Any drops or anything I can use? My left eye seems fine so is it ok to wear that contact? I don't have glasses so I have to be able to see somehow.

  1. This is why I tell all the patients who come to our office and  wear Cl's to get a back up pair of glasses.  You still wearing your Cl's is only exacerbating your problem, if your having discharge, you might have conjunctivitis and need to see an eye Dr NOW.  If your not having discharge, your eye needs rest from the contacts an maybe a medicated eye drop from the doctor.  Try similason dry eye and see if that works, if not u need to see your eye dr.  Better to miss one day at work that lose sight in that eye.

  2. do not waste time better see your eye doctor

  3. I am sure you know this already, but you really should have glasses as a backup when stuff like this happens.  If my eyes are irritated I usually put plenty of saline solution in them and blink rapidly for a few minutes and repeat the process a few times until my eyes feel better.

  4. ok i had that sam problem 2 days ago...my left eye was fine but i slept in my contacts too and i don't do it n e more cuz my eye became VERY sensative to light... all i can say is get your solution or try getting a new contact to make sure it's still clean...and put it in.....I got a new one and put it in and my eye is stilla little red but it doesn't hurt anymore....i use the visine for contact drop and that help a lot too or even the optic FREE  ones for contacts
