Acclamation aiming to collect the Eddie Read Stakes for the second time
Acclamation only has one aim in mind and that, is to win the Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes at Del Mar on 21st July, 2012. Having done it before, things will definitely be easy for the older division runner in this grand event, where
he will take on four other runners.
Trained by Donald Warren, the runner has one thing that the other runners might lack, and that is experience.

Last year, he won the Eddie Read Stakes as he defeated, Jeranimo, and completed the 1 1/8 mile race in 1 minute and 46.99 seconds.
Since then, the son of Unusual Heat notched three more consecutive victories, all three run at 1 ¼ miles, but Acclamation will be cut down in distance to 1 1/8 miles when he runs in the Eddie Read Stakes.

He landed the Grade 1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar and the Grade 2 Clement L. Hirsch Turf Championship at Santa Anita Park in October, 2011, where he briskly covered the track and defeated, Champ Pegasus.
Foaled by Silveyville mare Winning In Style, the six-year-old has mostly raced on turf, and the poly-track might be an issue but, the runner is versatile and will be able to adapt to the track.

He has tackled the synthetic surface before when he competed and, won the Grade 1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar on 28th August, 2011.
In April, 2012, it was speculated that, Acclamation had a sore foot, but after some corrective shoeing, he has recovered and has done immensely well since then.
The Mary Hilvers, Peter Hilvers, E. W. Johnston and Judy Johnston owned runner gave his connections the confidence they needed when he made a terrific comeback this season.

Acclamation picked up where he left from last year, and kicked off the season by taking the Grade 1 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap for the third year running at the Betfair Hollywood Park on 9th June, 2012, where he finished
before the Simon Callaghan trained, Slim Shadey.
Slim Shadey, son of Val Royal, out of mare Vino Veritas, is looking for revenge in this race. He is one of the contenders, who is brave enough to challenge Acclamation, and who knows, he might give him a serious run for his money.
Slim Shadey could try to beat Acclamation, but the Eclipse-award winner is going for his seventh consecutive victory and chances are he will be able to defend his crown.
