Acclamation never looked in any doubt as he bagged the Clement L. Hirsch Turf Championship at Santa Anita
After a torrid start to his racing career, which continued throughout his 4-year-old racing career with some good patchy performances, Acclamation has come to his own indeed with 5 wins on the trot capping it off with a significant win in the Grade 2 $150,000
Clement L. Hirsch Turf Championship.
The late developing Donald Warren trained 5-year-old horse, Acclamation still couldn’t be stopped as he continue to reign over the Southern California turf division when he won at Santa Anita on 2 October.
Acclamation ran his winning streak to 5 at the expense of the determined Champ Pegasus by three quarters of a length, and now surely he is on a collision course with the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf.
The son of Unusual Heat, out of Winning in Style by Silveyville, Acclamation is still in contention to run in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic after his win in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic, which is also the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” race.
In the Hirsch Turf Championship, Acclamation was ridden by Patrick Valenzuela, as the pair started their demolition process when they took the lead from Make Music For Me swinging for home leaving the final turn.
Entered Champ Pegasus and looked like a horse on a mission as he dueled with Acclamation for the lead. They both looked like seizing the advantage over the other as the duel went all the way down the lane, and both horses refusing to give.
Acclamation turned out to be the one with more ambition to hit the wire first as he over took Champ Pegasus who was ridden by Garret Gomez, and completed the 1 ¼ mile distance in an impressive 1 minute and 59.45 seconds.
Donald Warren was delighted with Acclamation’s performance and said, that was the kind of race we wanted just 5 weeks before the Breeders’ Cup, further added that he thinks they are ready for either the Breeders’ Cup Turf run over 1 ¼ miles or the Classic.
Acclamations’ career record improved to 9 wins out of 28 starts with two runners up finishes and 6 third place finishes, shooting up his lifetime earnings to $1,628,048.
