Acclamation on road to greater glory
Producing good results on regular basis has never been an easy task, and only a few horses manage to accomplish the feat. Donald Warren’s rampant horse, Acclamation, is one of those succeeded in maintaining the highest standards for a good while.
Winning seven consecutive races shows how good momentum the 6-year-old is in. During his winning journey, the powerful runner faced various opponents, and handled different conditions, but there was never a problem for him.
He put his campaign on the winning track after suffering a terrible defeat in April last year, when he finished 10th behind Duke Of Mischief in the Grade 3 Charles Town Classic at Charles Town.
On a hard surface at Betfair Hollywood Park, he grabbed two back-to-back triumphs to make a huge impact. After crushing the opposition in the Grade 2 Jimmy Murray Handicap, he perpetuated his good work to ensure the top spot in the Grade 1 Charles Whittingham
Memorial Handicap. There was no stopping for him thereafter.
After proving his mettle at Hollywood Park, the son of Unusual Heat travelled to Del Mar, where he did an equally good job. By winning the Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes on turf, and the Grade 1 TVG Pacific Classic Stakes on polytrack, the bay horse showed that
he could handle any sort of track.
Owned by Peter Hilvers, E W & Judy Johnston & Mary Hilvers, the maverick runner wrapped up his 2011 campaign with a superb win in the Grade 2 Clement L Hirsch Turf Championship at Santa Anita.
After a vacation of more than eight months, the Old English Rancho-bred made his seasonal debut with a huge bang. The spectators at Hollywood Park saw him bagging the first prize in the Grade 1 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap.
The latest of his victories hit the headlines recently, when the 1-2 favourite, under P. Valenzuela, showed another fascinating show on Del Mar’s turf, winning the Eddie Read Stakes.
With seven major wins under his belt, Acclamation is brimming with confidence. The daredevil has three big entries in hand, as he is due to run in the Breeders' Cup Turf after picking one of next month’s Del Mar Handicap and Pacific Classic.
Acclamation has a wonderful record on turf. This year’s Breeders’ Cup is scheduled to be held at Santa Anita, and it will be a huge advantage for him. The Donald Warren-trained is not a ground-dependent, but the connections will surely prefer fast going,
as the horse has a tremendous record on hard ground.
