Acclamation out of the season due to foot problems and will miss the Breeders’ Cup Turf
The 5-year-old horse, Acclamation is through for the season, according to his principal owner and breeder, Buddy Johnston, due to displaying heat in a foot that has restricted his activity, and it means the top ranked among the leading American contenders for the Breeders’ Cup Turf is out of the race.
Winner of five consecutive races, including a win in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic at about 1 ¼ miles over Del Mar’s Poly Track on 28 August, Acclamation is not in real discomfort stated Johnston, but when you have heat in a foot it means you have to start worrying about it.
The Grade 1 Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Turf is a tough race, but with a bruised foot the race becomes even tougher and the last thing Acclamation’s connections want is a short horse for a mile and a half race.
Luckily there are no fractures, which mean the 5-year-old bay horse will return to the racing arena to pile up more wins on his already nine after 28 starts with lifetime earnings of a whopping $1,628,048.
This yeah the son of Unusual Heat, out of Winning In Style by Silveyville, has had a phenomenal season in which he has gone on to five races out of seven starts, and all of those five wins on the trot.
The Old English Rancho owned bay horse started his winning streak in the Grade 2 Jim Murray Handicap at Hollywood Park.
Acclamation ran at about 1 ½ miles and defeated Falcon Rock and Haimish Hy, with the winning time of 2 minutes and 25.63 seconds.
Staying at Hollywood Park, Acclamation conquered the Grade 1 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap at about 1 ¼ miles.
He aced the Del Mar season, with the win in the Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes on turf at about 1 1/8 miles on 23 July, 2011, and then reigned over the Del Mar’s synthetic surface when he won the all important Grade 1 Pacific Classic.
Back to Santa Anita Park, Acclamation competed against the likes of Champ Pegasus and Imponente Purse and defeated them both in the Grade 2 Hirsch Turf Championship on 2 October, 2011.
The Californian bred will be give a little time before he makes his return to the races, and it’s the only smart thing to do.
