Acclamation recovered from a foot bruise as he turned in his first workout since the injury
Named as the 2011, Outstanding older horse of the year, the 6-year-old Donald Warren trained horse, Acclamation, is yet to make his 2012 debut. Mainly because at the end of the 2011 season, the California bred has a bruised foot, but he is well and has completely
recovered from his mild injury, and the evidence of that was his first work over a distance of four furlongs which he went on to cover in 53.60 seconds, but Donald Warren clocked his trainee for five furlongs and timed him 1 minute and 7 seconds for the distance.
Owned by Mary and Peter Hilvers in partnership with part owner and breeder Bud Johnston along with Judy Johnston, Acclamation picked up the injury after downing his fifth win on the trot in the Grade 2 Hirsch Turf Championship.
He was running for his fifth win in a row, and the gutsy horse measured it to precision, as he downed a pretty good lineup in 1 minute and 59.45 seconds, going over a distance of 1 1/4 miles at Santa Anita Park’s turf course on 2 October, 2011.
Prior to that win, Acclamation had downed three Grade 1 wins in a row, starting from the Grade 1 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap at Hollywood Park’s turf course on 11 June, 2011, going over a distance of 1 ¼ miles and covering it in 2 minutes and 0.18
seconds.
He then stayed at turf for the prestigious race for older horses, the Grade 1 Eddie Read Stakes, over at 1 1/8 miles at the Del Mar meet last season, and downed Jeranimo and Caracortado in the Eddie Read.
Next grade 1 was the Pacific Classic, and the hat-trick race was then extended back to his favoured distance of 1 ¼ miles. Acclamation like it long, completed his hat-trick of grade 1 wins at Del Mar on 28 August, 2011, by defeating Twirling Candy and Stately
Victor, who finished second and third, respectively.
Though, his ultimate 5 winning streak started from a win in the Grade 2 Jim Murray Handicap back in May last year.
Donald Warren has big plans for Acclamation this year, as he will put him on trail for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on November 2 and 3 at Santa Anita Park.
