Accommodation in Athens, Greece?

We will be visiting Athens in September 2008 and listed the following possible accommodations in Athens:

What I need to know is the following:

1 - Is the Hotel/Hostel in a save area for two woman alone traveling and

2 - is the location far from the tourist attractions?

Hotel Filoxenia - Aharnon street

Hotel Apollo - Metaxougio Sq

Economy Hotel - Klisthenous

Hotel Diethnes - Deoniou str

Chris & Soph Nothern Backpackers - Kritsas Maroyssi

Fivos - Athinas Monastiraki

Hotel Plaza - Alkyonidan Avenue, Voula

  1. If you want something close to all the action then the Monastiraki hotel is where you want to go.

    Everything is in walking distance...Flea Market next to Monastiraki station, Thiseio, Plaka, Parthenon etc and so forth.

    If you want to be surrounded by English speakers, go see the Aussie boys at Athens Backpackers.  Close to the metro and a nice view of the Acropolis from their rooftop bar.


  2. I honestly dont know about the above so i am going to answer the 2nd part of the question.

    Athens is  very safe for two women. According to Eurostats, Athens is currently the safest capital in Europe. As long as you use some common sense, there is nothing to worry about. Have fun! =)
