Hi helpful YA members.

I am heading off to the land of smiles again in September, this time spending a couple of nights in an area that I am not familiar with, so I have a couple of questions.

Has anyone stayed at the Sananwan Palace Bangpli, if so was it any good.

What would a taxi charge from Suvarnabhumi airport for this trip.

I am aware of taxi scams and I know where to get the taxi.

I am traveling with my seven year old daughter this trip.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Yes, Queen's garden resort is a good choice.  The hotel offered a free one way shuttle to the airport. Perfect location for anyone wanting to be close to the airport.  You can also ask for wireless Internet services to be provided. http://www.discovery-thailand.com/Hotels...

    Have a nice trip!

  2. The hotel is not terribly close to the airport (6 km), but it is very convenient.  Two of my mates stayed there and for the price they were very happy with it.

It is clean and comfortable.  I want to say that the rooms they stayed in did not have hot water, but aside from that, they were happy with it.

Only use a metered taxi, and your fare including the surcharge will be at or slightly over 100 - 120 baht.

Thats it, I think they have a website, and I know that it is easy to get there by public transport, but with your daughter being with you, taxi is the better way to travel.

    EDIT: here is the site

  3. Sananwan Palace Bangpli

Cost of the Sananwan Palace Airport Pickup Service 500 Thai Baht for 1 or 2 passengers.  The taxi will not want to take you on such a short trip.  You could try catching a taxi at up at the departure area level 4. 6km would be 60 baht or so. At arrival on level one they will charge and additional 50 baht

    Airport surcharge.

I would suggest the Queen's Garden Resort.  This is a very good hotel if you want to be near Subarnabhumi Airport (BKK) to catch an early flight or you get in late. The hotel itself is modern, compfortable and clean. The staff are helpful.  They provide 24/7 Suvarnabhumi Airport Shuttle Service(free one way (100 baht return).  Room is 900 baht and comes with a free breakfast.  Wifi internet is available.

A taxi from Queen's Garden to the end of the skytrain at On Nut costs B120 each way.

  4. WELL I HAVEN,T HEARD OF THAT HOTEL AT ALL.I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TO STAY ATLEAST A NITE ON KHAO SAN ROAD SO THAT YOU CAN COVER GRAND PALACE AND IMPORTANT PO AND VEN VINAMEK MANSION EASILY.BUT DON,T STAY THERE ANYFUTHER.WILL RECOMMENT YOU TO STAY THEE FOR THE FIRST NITE AND COVER THE PLACES IN THE OLD CITY BY THE FOLLOWING DAY.SAWASDEE HOTELS AE GOOD ONES.GOT BASIC ROOMS WITH AIRCON,FRIDGE.THEY ARE ON SOI RAMBUTRI.THEN YOU CAN STAY IN PATUNAM MARKET.WHEN YOU CAN SHOP AT DIRT CHEAP PRICES.THEY HAVE GOOD HOTELS THERE TOO.THE BEST LAND BARK IS BAIYOKE SKY HOTEL.DON,T GET AN ACCOMODATION NEAR SUVARNABHUMI.COZ IT IS A BIT OUT OF THE MAIN CITY.

    AIRPORT TO KHAOSAN ROAD=350 BHATS.

    AIRPORT TO PATUNAM=250 BHATS

KHAO SAN ROAD TO PATUNAM+90 BHATS.

ALWAYS GET A METERED TAXI.SAY THEM (YOUR DESTINATION) BY METER.DON,T TAKE A TUK TUK.THEY ARE CHEATERS.FROM KHAO SAN ROAD TO VINAMEK MANSION IS 25 BHATS BY TUK TUK.
