  1. Federal judges serve for life, even if they become incapacitated.  Kind of strange our forefathers let that get by them, isn't it?


  2. It is a life appointment.  They serve until they choose to retire or until they die.  And to the first answer...that is the case with ANY federal judge, not just the supreme court.

  3. Once appointed, they serve for either life or until they choose to retire.

  4. Assuming you are talking about Supreme Court Justices, it is a lifetime position.
