I'd have to see the picture he was referencing to know which side Al thought should be "up."

But there is no "up" in space. We're just used to looking at pictures of Earth with the northern pole being oriented on "top".

Heh heh, yeah it's funny when people say dumb stuff like that. I suppose it's natural to assume the earth is a particular way round when you always reference North as upwards on a map. Not even North is 'upwards' on the galactic plane because the earth is on a tilt (it's why we get different seasons) so really who knows which way we're going!
