  1. it does happen in the country but not in the city

i have heard of it happening but im not sure

  2. This practice was rare, most likely occurred in the countryside, and is now illegal.

The practice was due to a misreading of a verse in the Vedas (where the widow was supposed to let go of her grief in the fire and move on), and sometimes maybe a wife was so in love with her husband, she decided to commit suicide in hopes of being with him again.

So, does this "barbaric" culture still happen today?

If it does occur, it's rare. It was rare, it is rare, and will always be rare (no matter how much you want the negative attention off Islam and onto India/Hinduism. *ahem*).

Should America wage war to enforce their "civilness" on these people?

    Obviously, the answer is no.

Maybe when those ohsomany burning widows decide to not only kill themselves, but also take innocent others with them, then maybe. yeah.

But until then, no, America should not, and would not wage war on them.

For now, everybody, not only America, (including moderate Muslims) should focus on eradicating the radical version of Islam, because unfortunately, this barbaric culture still exists.

  3. I've heard of this before but I'm not sure if it still goes on today.
