Hexes and curses take on their own lives- it takes alot of anguish to make one stick! Look at Babe Ruth's& the Hope Diamond( stolen from a beloved temple god, everyone who has possession of it or has worn it, dies or has a major tragedy soon afterwards. One lady lost her husband and child (husband bought the diamond necklace for her)& the guy who transported it (in his possession) to the Museum lost his wife and then both of his legs in an accident in less than a year. Theres actually almost 200 years of tragedy with that rock &  Ruth's took 80 years to break! A pained soul makes bad karma!
