She said that a woman had recieved it for "saving her entire platoon". I think msmanners212 is full of it because I can't find anything about this. In fact the only woman I know of that has recieved the medal of honor was Dr. Mary Walker, but she then had hers revoked because her heroic actions were non-combat related. It was later reinstated in 1977.

But does anyone know if a woman has recently been awarded the congressional medal of honor? Or was msmanners212 just making stuff up...

  1. Mary Walker was the only woman awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor at Bull Run on July 21,1861

  2. As I stated I could not find anything.  I think she is either misinformed or stretching the truth.

  3. The last medal of honor recipiant was a Navy Seal Master-at-Arms Michael Monsoor, Navy Seal Lt. Michael Murphy, then a Marine Cpl Jason Dunham, and an Army SFC Paul R. Smith during the invasion.   That's the only 4 since Operation Enduring Freedom period.

  4. She's probably thinking of Monica Brown. By the by, though she wasn't in a combat 'role,' it was definitely a combat situation that led to her being awarded the Silver Star.

  5. I don't recall anything about the Medal of Honor, but I think a woman won the Silver Star a month or two ago.

  6. Dont know if recently, but there was a woman that was awarded the medal of honor on 1892
