..........when an insulated material (say A)(which is positively c) is kept near another insulated material(say B),the negative charge on B decreases the potential in A & the positive charge on the other side increases the potential of A.how?

  1. Electrostatic induction.

    It does not really change the charge, just the location of some of the charges.

    Some electrons on the negatively charged conductive material move toward the positive material because they are attracted. This leaves a more positive charge on the far side. Opposite action on positive conductor: electrons tend to migrate to far side. Net charge of conductors don&#039;t change though.
