According to the old wives tale...?

Question

about the speed of the heartbeat......is 12 weeks too early to go by?? At my 12 week apt my baby was sleeping so she/he was definatly not active! The heartbeat was 158! I know its higher if the baby is active and lower if the baby is resting so what do you think??

(Yes i know old wives tales are just for fun and there is ALWAYS a 50/50 chance! I just want to see what others think who also enjoy old wives tales)

Well I agree, old wives tales ARE fun! And so far, they have all been right for ME. I have a baby with a slower heart beat, I crave salt more than sugar, and I'm carrying low. Guess what?! I'm having a boy! lol all of the old wives tales have been acurate on me. However, at 12 weeks it is a little to early to do the heart beat thing. Since the fetus is SOOOO tiny, they all (boy or girl) have really fast heart beats. I would say wait about a month and then see. Good luck! Have fun :o)

I think 12 weeks is really too early to apply this "theory".  For one thing, the smaller the baby is, the faster the heart rate.  When I was checked at 12 weeks, the heart rate was 178, but the nurse said that was perfectly normal early on.  At my 20 week checkup yesterday, the heart rate was around 156.  Does that mean anything about gender?  Probably not, but it's always fun to think about.  Good luck.

i beleive in that theory too

i have 2 boys and 2 girls

At my last ultrasound at 27 weeks my baby boy was moving everywhere and even making fist on the screen and his heart beat was 143. Its just like the Chinese gender calendar base on my lunar age it was suppose to be a girl but if i went of just regular age it was boy. Just something for fun that sometimes is right.

Old wives tale's are just tales.  All the old lady's told me I was pregnant with a boy because of the way i was carrying but then we found out it was a girl

LOL.....im a midwife and ive had this argument with girls i work with!!!!! One said if its lows its a boy, if its high its a girl and another midwife said the complete opposite!!!

Sorry to burst your bubble on this old wives tales!!! There is NO truth to it at all!!!!

What you can be certain of is that you have a healthy baby with a perfectly normal heartbeat!!!!!! Goodluck!!!
