is the greatest olympian of all time, a few have said he is not who in your opinion is/was the greatest olympian?

The one that would stand out for me is Jesse owens.

I liked Mark Spitz,  I would watch him swimming with my youngest son who was in infant school at the time.  We really enjoyed the Olympics together that year and Mark was our hero.  So for me he was the greatest!!

Also Flo Jo was great to watch.

Also may I add, a bit off the subject I know, but the British athletes we are seeing this time are a wonderful example to all the kids watching them.  Great role models, in every way and mainly from very ordinary backgounds.

Agree with Aurora..my son has difficulties with school work and it makes him feel inadequate and its heartbreaking..however he is a bleedin' fantastic swimmer and has sat in front of all the swimming , diving and what not and I swear my little 7yo boy has grown 3 inches.

He went swimming with his dad and sister last night and beat the pair of them in a two length race. My husband is 6 foot and my daughter is 11 THAT'S the difference a role model can make :-)
