I'd like to think I'm fairly good with computers and just wanted to make sure I wouldn't mess it up.

My laptop has the Vista OS which we got it in, and I'm wanting to reformat it.

Would someone else's Acer recovery disks that are for XP Home and the 3000/5000 series work on mine? And if it will, would any issues pop up?

I have the 3680 laptop.

  1. You don't need the recovery CD's. Acer laptops like mine with Vista installed on it have a hidden partition that contains the system files. When you turn on the computer, press Alt+F10 once the Acer screen finishes loading. It should do the reformatting process  right away and take about 25 minutes to finish.

Using recovery CD's for other systems would not work.

  2. You can probably use it if you have a valid key code.  Some of the device driver files may be different

  3. Don,t mess around get the one for your laptop i no you wan,t to save money but it might cost you in the end.
