Hi, I'll try to keep this info short but it can hard to write succinctly :) I have an Acer Aspire 1644WLMi that I got approximately 2 and a half years ago now. Last October it stopped working properly very suddenly after a trip to the internet cafe. I've done numerous virus checks with AVG free on it and spybot so I'm pretty confident it isn't that. What happened was that I was using photoshop (relatively system consumptive on a 1 gig ram machine) and it told me I had run out of memory and shut the program down. My tocuhpad started running extemely slowly like a stop motion film and my keyboard likewise. When I tried to shut down explorer stopped responding and I couldn't get the input to work to end it. Sometimes though when I tried to reboot it would work perfectly, it was very inconsistent. It also seemed like it was very busy doing something when it had already gone through all the normal things at boot up. When I looked at what it was doing it would seem to pick one or 2 things to use all the CPU capactiy up on, like a screensaver that wasn't even running or the teatimer part of spybot. I put the laptop back to factory settings and everything was going fine, even after about 3 reboots. Then it started doing exactly the same thng again when I tried to turn it on last night. I'm really not sure what's up with it. Also when I use an external usb mouse the mouse works fine. Hope that wasn't hopelessly longwinded and I hope someone has some advice, thanks for taking the time to read!
