Acer MP330 disk mounting problem

Question

Hi I have an Acer mp330 20Gb mp3 player/hard driveWhen i start the device and select the music feature it always displays something in Japanese...so after selecting English as the display language and selecting music; again im shown...Please wait disc mounting...I am now tearing out the last remaining strands of hair that remain on my head...i have tried everything i can think of... My OS (Windows XP Pro) will not recognise the device in the My Computer feature but will under device managerCan this problem be resolved short of throwing it in the bin????
