Acer Travelmate 8210 touchpad problem

Question

Even after sending back for repair and needlessly reformatting, my 8210 has a touchpad that sometimes sends pointer jumping down about 3 inches. One can't scroll down on the right scroll bar without finding yourself looking at the time/date window popping up.
It also doesn't wake up very well from hibernation. The screen stays so dark it's hard to find the mouse.
