Achille Emana’s ‘Real Betis to Al-Hilal’ affair - La Liga Special
As http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 and Messi steal the headlines for their respective clubs, players like Achile Emana are paid little heed, if any. The striker has been an ever-present figure since he signed up for Real Betis but is on his way out as the club find themselves in
financial turmoil. His protracted transfer to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal is becoming one of the longest sagas around Seville.
Emana’s flirtations with the Arabs started after his exceptional season in front of the goal. The Cameroonian attacking midfielder hit the back of the net 13 times in 24 league starts. He caught the glances with his imposing playing style, thanks to which
he bossed Segunda Division’s defences in Real Betis’ successful run.
The former Toulouse man has been a consistent performer for Béticos del Universo since his 5.5 million Pound transfer from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899. He was Betis’ highest scorer with 11 goals and 7 assists in a below par season that ended in relegation. Since then, Emana
has represented the Andalusian club 91 times in the league, boasting a healthy tally of 34 strikes against his name.
Struggling with financial troubles, Betis have no other option but to sell their top players in exchange for the much needed running expenses. The Verdiblancos have outstanding debts of 84 million Euros and are currently in administration following their
title winning season. Emana is one of the club’s key assets and coincidently, one of the most liquid as well.
Following his mega million dollar move from France, Emana is also one of the highest earners in the squad. Betis want to get rid of the player to ease pressure on their wage budget, while they also want to cash in on the player before he enters the twilight
of his career. However, his move away from Benito Villamarín has been hitting stumbling blocks, one after another.
From the player valuation to the agents involved, every trivial detail has hindered the completion of the move that started brewing early in the preseason. Negotiations started for the attacker with the Arabs willing to offer 3.8 million Euros for his services.
This bid was unacceptable for the club as they wanted to recoup a larger portion of the 5.5 million Euros they paid for him in the first place.
The proceedings turned sour note as Betis’ major shareholder, Jose Antonio Bosch, was unhappy with the involvement of Promosport agent, Rodri, in the deal. Promosport have been in Bosch’s bad books following their involvement in the transfer of Betis’ youth
product, Jose Angel Jurado de la Torre, to Villarreal.
Over the summer, all parties concerned came to a mutual understanding that 4.5 million Euros shall be enough for the transfer to go through. A sum of 3 million Euros would be paid up front while the outstanding amount of 1.5 million Euros would be transferred
over the course of the year. Only personal terms needed to be agreed upon after this.
Negotiations have broken down quite a few times already, although a resolution looks closer now. Emana is asking for a deal lasting four years while the Arabian club are only willing to offer three years. However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Al-Hilal-c38309 are willing to improve the terms
of the contract significantly, but will not budge from the three-year offer.
Recently, it has been reported that everything has been finalized and Emana will move for 4.5 million Euros, and will sign a three-year deal. Anyhow, the deal has received another jolt with the commencement of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
The transfer will be made official in the upcoming days with the Cameroonian leaving the Iberian Peninsula to mint money in the Arabian desert. With so many problems in the process, expectations are high of Emana, and if his form from last season is anything
to go by, the football crazy Arabs might have a player on their hands.
