Ok. Heres the deal. I used to run about 4 miles a day, and my the achilled tendon on my left foot hurt after i ran. Moreso after i stop, and then start to walk/run again. I beganto ice it and stuff, but there really wanst any change. I stopped running for about 2 weeks, and got new shoes. And the pain went away, but after about 3 days of running 2 miles a day, the pain came back.

To describe the pain, id say it's a throbbing stingy pain thats about 3-4 inches long on the back of my left ankle.

Is there anything i can do to remedy the problem?

thanks in advance.

  1. I had a bad case of Achilles' Tendonitis this season, and I was out for 4 weeks. After I came back, I still had to tape my ankle for 6 weeks to be able to train on it, otherwise it was too painful. Achilles problems will take longer than 2 weeks to heal.

You did the right thing by getting new shoes. But you need to take some time off away from running and do some swimming or biking instead for the time being. You don't want to come back to running too soon and re-aggravate the injury. Then, when you do come back to running, its not a bad idea to put a heat pad on the Achilles' before running, and always always always ice it after you're done.

In the meantime, get some dixie cups and fill them with water at about 3/4 of the way up, and stick them in the freezer. Each day, tear off the top of the cup so that about 1/2" of the ice is showing and massage the Achilles' area with it. This will really help.
