Achilles tendon injury forces Baltimore Ravens place LB Terrell Suggs on PUP list – NFL News
The Baltimore Ravens have officially confirmed that injured linebacker Terrell Suggs is going to be out of the side for initial six games of this regular season, nursing his torn Achilles tendon injury.
It was officially confirmed on Monday that the team has placed Terrell on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list, which means the player will not be available for selection in the squad for the first six games of the season.
Suggs, who earlier laid tall claims around a possibility of his quicker return, has gone quiet lately. His boasted claims were confronted by coach John Harbaugh and independent analysts given the player did not have an opinion from his doctor in support
of those claims.
He eventually came to the terms that his speculated November return timeline would be difficult to materialise. Now his placing on the PUP list has further cemented those doubts.
As per rules defining PUP list scenario, Suggs can return by October 21 at earliest, which is less likely given that injuries like torn tendon are difficult to be assessed with a hundred percent accuracy.
Even medical analysts refrain from speculating an exact timeframe for return to action of a player with torn Achilles tendon. Also, the injury is prone to risks of reoccurrence and other setbacks.
If Suggs is not going to make himself available by Oct. 21, the Ravens will have another three weeks to decide if they would like to retain the player on their active roster or place him on the injured reserve list. The player will be allowed to train and
practise during those three weeks if he feels fit and comfortable doing so.
Terrell is in a phase or recovery and rehab since having surgery on March 08 this year. He has also remained in the news for his self-calculated return timelines.
In addition to placing Suggs on the PUP list, the Ravens have released some other players to bring down their roster strength to 75 players, as per requirement of the National Football League (NFL). The players’ strength during the offseason is allowed to
soar to 93 members maximum on each team’s roster, respectively.
