Aching legs older woman?

Question

I'm a middle age woman around 45 my legs seem to be hurting more than ever I don't think that they are growing pains I'm sure I'm done. Any idea whats wrong?

You might try stretching more - maybe yoga?  When your muscles are tight your legs can ache!

I am 37 and mine started aching on and off and I went in to the Dr and had an xray of my lower back and I have a pinched nerve, so I am on Mobic, a prescription NSAID and Flexeril, a muscle relaxer, and it has really wored well, and I start physical therapy next week....good luck!

P.S.....I don't consider 45 middle aged!!  You're still young!

Could be something as simple as your shoes.  When mine start to break down my legs hurt.  I am on my feet all day as a nurse and a pair of shoes usually last me 3-6 months.  If you change shoes and that doesn't help have your potassium level checked.  Low potassium can cause leg cramping.  Eat a banana every day for a week then see if the hurting stops.  If neither one of these help you may need to be checked by your doctor.

I've had that issue before and have found that exercise is the BEST answer to your issue.  However, there is a condition called Restless Legs Syndrome, where I have no doubt they'll give you drugs to treat it.  My honest opinion, however, is to go with exercise. It is natural and you will not have side effects from medication.  Your legs may just feel like they need exercise from being immobile for longer than they are used to.

no, but I will tell you what will fix them first thing.  Buying support hose.  Not those nasty beige ones, but the really new ones that are white, that are just awesome.  You need to sleep in them and your legs will feel like a million bucks.  Just do it.  Go to any pharmacy and you can buy them.  Walgreens has them.  The best $15 you will ever spend.
