I know the ways to prevent it like using sensodyne but is there any ways in which we can renew the enamel so we don't have the clear bit on the bottom of our teeth?

  1. In addition to listening to the aforementioned comments, you could purchase additional fluoride rinse (ie: ACT) from the grocery store and swish at night to help remineralize. You could also ask your dentist to prescribe a higher fluoride content paste/gel to use before bed that would help to remineralize the enamel. Keep snacking and beverages to a short time frame, rather than little bits throughout the day to keep the acid attack to a minimum. Gel-Kam used to be available by prescription only, but is available at the pharmacy counter if you ask. This can cause STAINING, so see your dentist regularly to have it polished off. I would run your thoughts by your dentist and hygienist and allow them to guide you. Good luck!

  2. sensodyne is for 'cervical sensitivity;ie to seal the exposed dentine at the 'neck' of a tooth. It has no bearing on acid erosion. Acid erosion affects people who do a lot of acidic stuff eg citrus fruit/drinks, and stuff like coke (phosphoric acid 35%). If you mean the light line at the gum level, it is demineralisation of the enamel, not true acid erosion, and because the enamel is leached of some of its mineral content,it is easily stained, and prone to decay. No- nothing will renew it except for you to redress the acid/alkaline balance by not living on acidic things.

The fluoride in most toothpastes helps to harden the damage,if you apply it to the area nightly, and leave it on.

  3. Unfortunately we do not produce new enamel.  The cells that make enamel, ameloblasts, are shed at the time the tooth first erupts.  I am not sure what you mean by "clear bit on the bottom" but one thing you can do for your teeth if you have lost enamel is protect the tooth by brushing with a fluoride toothpaste.  If you have sensitivity because of loss of enamel try brushing with a sensitive toothpaste, and there are pastes that also have fluoride.  Lastly, avoid excess acidic foods.  For example, don't suck on lemons, limes, grapefruits.

  4. I think once you lost it you can't get it back. You can however strengthen what you have by using the Sensodyne Pro Enamel.

You can also use straws to drink out of so the drink goes past your teeth instead of on/over your teeth. I hope this helps.

  5. yes, you can use Fluorated tooth paste.

These paste will help you in remineralization of the enamel surface.

    or

if you want to go to offfice and ask the dentist to apply professionally applied fluoride. This is high concentration fluoride good for your enamel.
