  1. Heart burn/acid reflux happens when the acid in your stomach that digests food comes up. This has become a more frequented problem in many people. If you get it on a regular basis, go to yur dr. - they will prescribe Nexium or something that, over time, will help reduce stomach acid - instead of you constantly treating it temporarily. My fatherhas esphogal erosion - another illness that has become more common. If your symptoms are really bad, you might want to have an upper gastrointestinal exam to see how much acid is coming up  - and if that test doesn't show anything, an edoscopy is a test where they use a camera to see how bad it is.

    Hope this helped! Feel better!

  2. Stress causes my acid reflux I have it every day. A tablespoon of baking soda and water will knock it out fast.

  3. Spicy foods, fried foods, greasy foods can all cause heartburn and a lot more foods, just depends on your system. Peppermint gum may help. Also drinking a lot of water takes mine away temporarily. Leave caffeine and chocolate alone, it could make it worse as can soda (pop). If you have access to baking soda it will take it away by mixing 1/3 tsp in 1/2 glass water. If you don't have peppermint gum or mints try any kind of gum or mints or ask around and see if any co workers have anything for heartburn.
