Acie Law and Jarrett Jack participate in Annual Dallas Fed X Pro-am Basketball Classic – NBA News
With the dark clouds prevailing on the courts of NBA in form of a lockout, the 24th annual Dallas Fed X Pro-am Basketball Classic provided an opportunity to a couple of NBA players to indulge in some hoop action.
The two-day event that took place at IAD Sports complex on Saturday and Sunday has developed into one of the biggest events in the Metroplex. The most attractive aspect of the tourney is that the NBA superstars, NBA Development
League talent and international players all compete on one platform.
The NBA participants, this time, included Golden State Warriors point guard Acie Law and New Orleans Hornets guard Jarrett Jack. And both expressed their joy on getting a game,
"It's tough right now with the lockout situation. You can't use NBA facilities, so it's hard to get with other NBA guys. A situation likes this where you're playing against pros and guys on your level, it's good to get some conditioning
and continue to just play." Law said.
Law and Jack, who made their first public presence since lockout, faced a string of questions on the current NBA situation and both came up with their own opinions.
The Hornets guard Jarrett was optimistic about the starting of the 2011-2012 season.
"I'm hoping so. We had the highest TV revenue this year and the highest attendance. We broke a lot of records this year and I think it'd be great for the game to keep going in that positive direction."
Whereas, Warriors’ 26 year old Acie showed less optimism for the solution in the foreseeable future,
"I honestly don't know. I don't have a good feeling about it. We'll see where it goes.”
The NBA talks will resume are set to resume on Monday. During the meetings that took place before the expiration of the old Collective Bargaining Agreement, the NBA owners and the players union were nowhere close from making a
settlement. However, Monday’s talks will provide a platform for both parties to make some headway.
The union President Derek Fisher also expressed hope that the negotiations will be able to produce some progress. He was however, very clear that Monday’s talk will only be the first step in the right direction and no concrete
results should be expected from just one meeting.
