  1. Something in black Africa?

    Ethiopia or something??

  2. From this wooden carved head of the Queen and Kings Great Wife Tiye could be any race or ethnic background .

The mummified remains of her parents Yuya and Tijiu show no indications of being descendant from a black African race .

This piece may have been made late in her life and gives her an Asian appearance, but we know Tiye's maternal line was descended from the Thutmosids and this family group had been well established and notable among the priest classes long before the final expulsion of the Hyksos from Egypt and the ascendancy of Ahmose, which marks the begining of The New Kingdom.

Tiye's mummified remains( her mummy is often referred to as The Older Woman) show her to be a tall, fine featured woman with high forehead and very defined cheekbones  .

These same facial characteristics are dominant in many of the Tuthmosid line.

As you know Tiye's son Amenhotep IV as Akhenaton introduced monothesism into Egypt during the later part of his rule.

In my opinion this particular depiction of Tiye does not distinctly show the physical characteristics of any specific ethnic genotype.

  3. Queen Tyre was Ethiopian.

  4. uuuummmmm Egyptian would be my guess?

  5. Hmm Call it a wild guess but  I think she looks Egyptian!
