  1. at first you'll be using crutches... and part of the therapy is the strengthening of your arms which will hold the crutches,

just attend all your therapies and soon you'll be ok =)

  2. my friends just went through the same thing as you.

that day depending on whether you get an epidural or anasthesia-- you  wont feel the pain with either-- but if you get the epidural, youll be awake for the entire surgury where as youll be knocked out with anasthesia ...after your not gonna be able to move but they will put you on antibiotics to numb the pain and they'll put you in this machine that will slowly move you leg back and forth so that scar tissue wont form--youll probabaley do this (combined with physical therapy) 3 times a day ranging from 1-2 1/2 hours

    hope this helped =)

  3. It took me a while to get out of the hospital, I believe I was there 5 hours after I got let out of surgery.  I was in a lot of pain and completely exhausted.  They will give you a nerve block, so the first day it will hurt a lot less than the second day, but you will most likely need the pain killers, and don't refuse the morphine if they offer it to you right after surgery!

It will most likely be tough to move it, and you will most likely get a machine that helps you bend it, I did not get one and I turned out fine so it is not definite.

But you will be fine!  Just relax, take your pain meds, and take advantage of all the care you are given!  You have a lot of work ahead of you but it's definitely worth it!

  4. I've worked surgery with ACL repairs. The majority of our patients are walking better and reporting less discomfort before they even leave the hospital- the same day as their surgery. You wil be given pain medicines to take at home as needed, but most people report better movement and less pain right away. Best of luck.
