Ok im suffering from acne, ive had it permanently for about 3 years. I don't want to go to the doctors though because it isnt that bad. It's in the middle of my cheeks and the sides of my chin, there are no big spots at all, just red blemishes and little pimples. I would love to be clear before i go back to school but i doubt very much that that will happen. I have currently been using dermalogica acne prone skin kit, it has'nt done alot and im not happy. I had been using sudocrem - it made a little difference but not alot. Are there any effective products for under a tenner - (ive just spent £20 on a skin kit) or any tips - i heard rubbing raw potatoe on ur face works, and cucumber - stuff like that. Please i would be extremly thankful.

please help :¬(

  1. Listen, that stuff you put on your skin is only attempting to deal with symptoms, it doesn't address the causes of acne.

What do you eat? Because what you eat comes out in your skin! If you eat and drink junk, you look like junk. If you eat good quality food, and get plenty of rest, and drink plenty of water, your skin is good.

So cut out the burgers and chips and fish fingers and sweet fizzy drinks for a few days, and fill up on fresh fruit and vegetables and water and lean meat, and you will see results. To really be rid of the spots, you need to follow the sensible eating plan for about 3 weeks. And afterwards, take junk food in strict moderation. There's a reason it's called 'Junk' food.

  2. Heyy abbie....well i suffer from it as well. i used sudocream but it only helped me a bit as well, so i started using tea tree oil spot stick, its great for spots and blemishes! u can get it from superdrug, for only 3 pounds! and right now they've got a deal going on - 2 for 4 pounds! i would definitely recommend it, as its very good! just go on the superdrug website, and in the search box put tea tree oil spot stick.

    or heres the link: http://www.superdrug.com/invt/81159&bkli...

or this one is for all the tree tea oil products: http://www.superdrug.com/bin/venda?ex=co...

  3. Hi Abbie - sorry to hear your skins so sore. Ive found Freederm works best on my breakouts - currently experiencing a humungous one right now all over my chest, face, back - OMG lol. So off to the pharmacy, ask at the counter for Freederm and go from there. Hope this helps! Oh its £8 a tube but lasts AGES and is defo worth it

    Hope this helps xx

  4. i know you dont want to go to the doctor but honestly, if it's enough to bother you then it's enough for a doctor to take seriously.  I have incredibly acne prone skin and before i saw my doctor id go through phases of big outbreaks on my chin, shoulders and chest.

things you can buy in the shops do very little to help acne - a doctor admitted this to me.  they're just not strong enough and are more for keeping the skin surface clean - and dirty skin is NOT the cause of spots.  Hormone imbalance causes ecxess oil production, which creates spots and the only way to prevent them is to prevent the oil being produced is to go deeper than working at the surface.  My doctor put me on the pill (dianette) and it's fantastic at stopping spots, greasy skin and even oily hair.  give up with the home remedies because they're likely to make the problem worse in the end.  they're short term remedies...think long term.

in reply to the extra you added - talk to your mum about it if you think she would go with you to the doctor and help get you some help.  i went with my mum when i was 16 and she advised me to also mention the fact that i had really heavy painful periods that were very irregular.  the best person to advise you would be your doctor but it's absolutely worth going and having a discussion about it.

in response to the person below, yes, eating bad foods can make you look dull and fatter and greasier but you don't get spots from eating junk food!  I had terrible acne from age 11 and i never ate anything but healthily cooked home made food like fish, meat, plenty fruit and veg, and ive always been a very healthy weight as a result.  none of this stopped my skin from being horrible though.

  5. I used to have acne but went on the pill and that stopped it, if i stop taking the pill my acne comes back.

  6. If your looking for natural acne treatments I would suggest you take a look at http://ridofpimplesovernight.com/3-home-... they have some free tips that will help you.
