Acne gel really hurts, help!?

Ok, so just 4 days ago my doctor has prescribed stievamycin to me and it's been working amazing, I've seen results the first time i applied it! But just 2 days ago after appalling it at night I woke up suddenly at 3 AM to find this irritating itchy sting! I thought it was nothing, but I somehow managed to fall asleep. When I woke up at like 9:00AM the pain wasn't there anymore. Then the next night(which is yesterday) I applied it again and also at 2:00Am I felt an itchy irritation. I woke up at 8 which is right now and it doesn't hurt anymore. Why is this? I also apply it during the day and it doesn't do this, is this some kind of side affect? I love this product and I don't know why it's doing this. Maybe my skin has to get used to it?

it sounds like your having a reaction to it, you should read the leaflet you got with it, if you got one, and see if it says this could happen. its either a reaction or its just the gel working just make sure its not burnin or anything if it is stop using it and go back to your doctor. if you read the leaflet I'm sure it will give you a few answers anyway, hope that helps

it could possibly be a allergic reaction, or maybe just a side affect. i would talk to your doctor about it because it could or could not be something serious. and when it come to your face, why take the risk?

if it only happens at night then perhaps it could relate to your nightly cleansing routine; your skin may be dry/ lacking sebum due to using make up remover/ exfoliant/ whatever. If no rash has developed then it is unlikely to be an allergic reaction. You have just started it, a burning sensation is a commonly reported side effect for the first few weeks, you could even expect some flaking. I would continue to use it when your skin is clean and thus it has maximum penetration.

You need to ask your doctor about this.  It may be simply an expected side effect, but you do need to ask.
