Acne help!! glycolic acid pads? clindamycin phosphate lotion?

i've been to 2 dermatologists and have tried soo many things to help treat my acne, but nothing is working. a while ago my derm gave me these glycolic pads to wipe my face with. i started using them but they made my face really red, dry and itchy so i stopped using them. however i recently started using them on my chest, back and shoulders and i have seen an improvement, so i decided to try them again on my face. i realized now that i was using it too frequently on my face before, so now i think i will use them once a week or once every 3 nights. (does this sound ok?) also, what should i use on the nights when i don't use the glycolic pads?

she also gave me clindamycin phosphate lotion for my face and i only used it for a couple nights, because again, it really dried out my face and made it red and flaky. i know some topical creams and stuff are supposed to dry out your skin before they work, but i was wondering if anyone used this before and if it helped?

i've also been on an oral medicine, doryx, for about a month and i think i've seen somewhat of an improvement. i don't have as many new pimples, and there are less bumps on my face. the thing is i have a lot of red splotches underneath my skin, by its smooth on the surface. idk what it is. but if anyone has any info and can help, please do!!

  1. for the irritation thing you should wait about an half hour after you wash your face to put on medication that is what my dermatologist told me, also she said to use the medication like 2 times a week at nighttime and build up the times i use it as tolerable. because when i first got it i was really impatient and used it right after washing my face at night and everyday because i thought that it would work better and faster, but it just made my face peely, itchy and red.

  2. I used to the clindamycin lotion (is an antibiotic) and it cleared up my acne! It didn't make my face dry though. I wonder if it was the glycol pads really making your face dry. I would try the clyndamycin lotion again. It only takes a little bit, like barely any on each area. A few days later the acne areas should clear up. After I got my acne under control I didn't really have a problem. Now I use the lotion maybe every 3 months or so. The lotion is also great to use on any kind of skin sore (bug bite, scrap) since it is an antibiotic. Good luck!

  3. you can use retinoic acid derivates such as adapalen oinment with Doxycycline for treatment of acne.
