Acne problem! Please help?

Okay. I'm 13 and I've got severe-moderate acne. I've used Proactiv, which removed most of the whiteheads I had, but didn't clear up my skin all the way. So, I decided to switch to Neutrogena's Acne Therapy System. For the first two days, it worked WONDERS. But all of a sudden, it worsened my acne. Now, there was a question I found here that involved my problem and it said to wait it out a bit and see if it goes away. But, my mom said to switch back to Proactiv since my acne was going back to it's worstest state. I can't go to the dermatologist since we can't afford it. So, should I go back to Proactiv? Or try another thing?

But. Thing is. Whenever I wake up in the morning, my skin is SUPER oily. Does that mean I've grown immune to an acne medication I'm using? (It happened A LOT when I used Proactiv. And now, It's happening w/ Neutrogena)

I have no idea what to do. I'm tired of feeling so insecure about myself! Please help!

  2. Perhaps you should go to see a doctor- antibiotics might help your acne - those products you're using aren't "medications" per se, and a lot of cosmetics can actually aggrivate acne or increase oiliness.

My doctor gave me antibiotics called Tetralysal and they've really helped me out. It's not the fastest acting treatment - I've been on it for about 5 months, but it does really help to reduce the redness (which is the worst part of acne) and the number of pimples as it kills the bacteria causing them. But you'll need to see a doctor for antibiotic treatment. I'd suggest trying it out though - it's REALLY helped me out a lot.

    Hope this helps.
