Acoustic guitar question (I'm an extreme beginner) easy 10?

this may sound like a retarted qustion but ill ask it any way... i just learnd that there are (correct me if im wrong) 6 strings high E , B , G , D , A , LOW E (RIGHT) so any way i started learning from the high e string at the 1st fret or frent (idk) and i put my finger on the string and i plukt it and it didnt make a sound why i know im blocking it but if im not then what where should i put it so it will make a diffrent sound

  1. the reason for the lack of sound is because you are not pushing down the string hard enough. Acoustic guitars require a little more finger strength as opposed to electric guitar where you have the amplifier to compensate for the sound.


  2. Put your finger in between the two raised lumps at the note you want to play and squeeze really hard.  Do not touch the string with anything else except the pick down at the base of the guitar where the hole is.  That's where you "pick" the string to get the sound of that note.
