  1. overall and acoustic will cost less. this also depends what kind you get too. With an electric, you will have to buy the guitar, and then probably a combo amp if you are starting off.

ive heard sometimes it is better to learn with higher tension strings from an acoustic, because if you switch to an electric (where the strings have less tension) it is easier to move around and play your chords.

  2. They cost about the same for a bottom level, but quality guitar.

    The advantages of electric:

    1. Sounds to make and potential

    2. Less pressure required to get pure notes.

That makes it good for a beginner

    Advantages of acoustic:

    1. Sounds are mellow, if that's what you like

    2. very portable and easy to pick up.

    3. no wires to deal with, or amps or any of that.

I would go either electric, or acoustic, but I don't like mixed. To me it doesn't accomplish either very well.

  3. Definitely the acoustic, An acoustic can cost as little as 50 bucks used.

Mainly due to the fact that it has little to no equipment. All you need is a strap, maybe a pick and you're ready to play.

  4. acoustic.

  5. Electrics are good for less finger movement thus making it easier and quick to play if your into faster music, Strings are easier to bend, Electrics tend to have more frets.
