Question:

Acquiring Temporary Canadian Visa for viewing Niagara Falls from Canada?

I am going on vacation to Niagara Falls in June with my family and my parents. I have heard that the falls is best viewed from the Canadian side. Is there any provision for non-US citizens to get a temporary permit to enter Canada, view the falls and return back on the same day. All of us are Indian citizens. I am in the US for work on H1B visa. My wife and daughter are on H4 dependent visas. My parents are visiting the US and have multiple entry visitor's visas. Is there any easy way to get temporary permits to enter Canada to view the falls? Are there any facilities available at the border to obtain such temporary permits?

  1. No.  You need to do a full visa process.  The border is the first line of defence, and your full criteria and application need to be assessed, as once you are in there is little control over if you actually stay a day or stay a month.

The only temporary thing like that is a transit visa.  But that is someone flying in for a day going to a third country and has their paid flight out as proof.
