Acro Dance??

I'm 13 and I'm probably starting acro. I've done gymnastics for 3 years and I can do a handstand, walkovers, handsprings, roundoffs, and some other easier things. Will I be able to get good at it even if I don't have any dance experience? What sort of stretches should I be doing? Thanks=)

  1. It doesn't really matter what you can do now, what matters is dedication and determination (as cliche as it sounds). I'm assuming you learned how to stretch in gymnastics, so just do whatever you know.

  2. since you do gymnasticits, (sp?) you are probably very flexible, so just whatever you normally do, but you  must practice, or you will very quickly loose your ability to do much dance

  3. Thats a great start! I did acro before an other form of dance, and thats what we started with, and knowing things like walkovers already will be a big advantage. It should be a lot fo the same stertches, and with your background you'll probably start things like front handsprings. limbers, chest rolls. You should be on par, especially fi youre with girls who have the same amount of dance experience as you do in gymnastics.

  4. I used to do gymnastics( even thoug i was horrible) and it sort of matters on strength in all the ways ( physical, emotional, and spirtual) You have to want it and be willing to work hard and dance would help some but if you are determined then you should be able to do great ( i know you will) and for strenches try to get the quads and calfs because they tighten up a lot I hope this helps
