  1. simply take a stand because

a] your coaches will respect you more

b] it will make you a better player

  2. My advice to you would be to shoot a few threes during a free shoot in practice.    Show him that you can hit an open three pointer.   dont just stark jacking them up in a game because that could result in less playing time.

also, talking to him may work.

  3. Tell them.

"Coach, I know you like me at the post. But I'd really like to play SG, I feel more comfortable there."

  4. Dont break the flow of the offense... That would be disastrous, especially in a game... So what you do, in practice, showcase your all around game... Pull up for a 3, drive with your left, just show him all your skills in practice and he's going to play you accordingly... I wasnt a good shooter my freshmen year all I did was attack the rim, draw fouls, and run the break.. But I worked on it so much that the next year, during our first official practice, I shot nothing but jumpers the whole day, and he noticed how much better I got and he moved me from being a wing player to a SG and I even got moved to varsity, so I suggest just practice practice practice... Basketball is nothing but a game of memory.. If you remember exactly how you shoot certain shots, it'll go in more times than not.. So just shoot at least 100 jumpers from different spots on the floor a day to develop more muscle memory and whe you get used to it, go out there and pretend you're gilbert arenas in practice lol and when the season starts he'll be running plays for you like your name was Kobe Bryant... Good luck

  5. It really doesn't matter what position you play. You can shoot the three playing any position. Look at Dirk Nowitzki and YI Jianlian. You could cause a lot of mathcup problems for defenders. In practice try to show to your coach that you can shoot threes and maybe he'll run some plays up for you to get a 3pt shot. You don't have to be a SG to shoot. If that doesn't work just take a three in a game. If you make it then maybe your coach will come around but if you miss you will lose some minutes.

  6. I'd recommend just trying it out when your teams out to a good lead.  Maybe just back out of the posts, take a pass, and throw it up.  Defense probably won't expect a post player to pop out to take 3's.  If things go well, talk to the coaches afterward and see what happens.

  7. Shoot 3's in front of them at practice, and it don't matter if you play PF you can still go out for 3's like Dirk.

Also shooting guard isn't about a pretty shot, its about getting points, and if you can't dribble, drive in when needed, shake a defender, or play defense you have no business at shooting guard.

  8. Well when ever you get the ball in the game just go to the 3pt arc pull up and drain the shot, or you can just pull up for a mid-rang J. Don't do it all the time though or he may sit you for ball hogging. But if he sees that you can hit the shot then maybe he might feel comfertable about you shooting it or let you change positions.

  9. you can be like sheed, shoot 3's and dominate in the post..or maybe you can just shoot more and if you are making them and the coach notices how can he refuse that
