there are still openings at the camp i want to go to, SOCAPA.

I'm aspiring actress, 15 going to be 16 the end of august!

I'm going to be a junior in high school.

i just dont know what to do i really want to go to that camp because you get headshots done and i need headshots!

But i live in PA and the camp is in los angeles for two weeks and i've never left my parents and my parents are okay with me going but my mom is just worrying(like all moms do!) with me flying on a plane by myself, me getting homesick or not liking the camp, or the people being mean, because i've only been acting for almost 3 years this fall and she thinks the people there will have been acting all their life, and i'm also really shy but i feel its something i have to do!

i hope you understand what i'm writting even though it probably doesnt make sense, i'm just kind of venting my feelings and hoping someone has advice!

does anyone have any advice?!

has anyone ever gone to SOCAPA? what did you think?

  1. you are so immature for your age. I moved out of my house and had a full time engineering job when i was only 17. grow up, suck it up, or get out of line!

  2. The acting world takes balls.

If you can't even go to the camp, chances are you can't make an audition either.

  3. idk if this helps or not, but if you feel in your gut that you should be there, then you have to go. dont worry about anyone else there, you are only going for your advantage, but it would be nice if you made so friends. let your mom know that you are confident about your decision to go, but if there are any doubts, have her go with you and stay in a nearby hotel. she could probably use a vacation anyway. dont let your dreams die just becasue you are to afraid. i say go for it.

  4. well, this could be some sort of a test for you, sooner or later you will have to leave your parents, plus it's two weeks. Think of all the good things that can happen there, all the people you can   get to know and all the new things you will learn and experience.

You will have to fight your fears, this is a good opportunity for you, give it a chance and see if this is really what you want and your true calling. You'll have to be strong, but thing about it as a new experience that will make you grow, one way or another.

  5. you dont have ot go to that special camp to get headshots..

get them somewhere else that is probly cheaper like a photography classs by you
